About me
I am an actor, comedian and writer of British and Mexican heritage living in London. After completing a degree in Comparative Literature with Film Studies at Kings College London (First Class Honours), I trained as an actor at RADA, where I was awarded The Ogden Scholarship and John Gielgud Bursary.
Since graduating in 2015, I have worked across an exciting variety of stage, screen and radio projects with varied credits including Treason (Netflix), Crown For Christmas (Hallmark Channel), NewsRevue and the world-premieres of Dubailand and The Great Divide (Finborough Theatre) and Police Cops: The Musica (New Diorama and Ed Fringe). I have been the voice of Katelina Felina, the Mexican rescue cat, in the Netflix children's animated series Gecko's Garage. for four series.
I have developed a career as a multi-award nominated comedian specialising in stand-up, sketch comedy and improv. I have trained with The Free Association comedy school, Spy Monkey, and Upright Citizens Brigade (New York) and I am an alumna of the prestigious Soho Theatre Young Company. As a stand-up I am 2019 Max Turner Prize semi-finalist (bursary winner), Funny Women Stage Award Nominee and 2Northdown New Act semi-finalist. I have studied sketch writing with Liz Kingsman and Steve Dawson, and in 2018 was invited to join The FA's inaugural sketch team, The Vice Captains. I went on to perform in and write for Newsrevue in 2017, where I joined forces with actor-comedian, Phoebe Batteson-Brown, and we created LADYLIKES sketch duo. Our comedy short films Millennial Meetup and How Does That Make You Feel have been screened at National and International film festivals, and both have been longlisted for The Funny Women Short Film Award. In 2021 How Does That Make You Feel won the Huston Comedy Fest Best Dark Comedy Micro Short award. In 2019 LADYLIKES made our Edinburgh debut with Top Secret House Party!, a sketch show exploring party culture. We were delighted to receive our first Soho Theatre transfer in 2019.
I first started writing short plays in 2015, with my first two shorts being performed at Women@RADA, and Theatre 503. I went on two write The Pursuit of App-iness, a solo show exploring our relationship with tech which was performed as part of the RADA Festival and 2017 Camden Fringe. I have since written two story telling shows, Stranger to Myself and Mexican Wave both performed at VAULT Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. My first pilot script, The Woolf Pack, was longlisted for the 2021 Funny Women Script writing competition and was selected for the second round of the 2022 Female Pilot Club script search. I recently wrapped my first short film Arch22 and have just written my first feature film script as part of my MA in Screenwriting at Royal Holloway. 2024 will see me return to Edinburgh with a brand new WIP comedy show, CULT CLASSICK!
What the reviewers say...
"Rose, is excellent. She navigates the transitions between Shakespeare’s verse and the more contemporary sections of the script with ease;. She is engaging and funny, and totally convincing as the displaced Warwickshire poet stuck in London.’ REVIEW FOR BARD IN THE YARD LAURA KRESSLY FOR MY THEATRE MATES
"Rose was incredibly charismatic and performing in a Croydon park with runners, loud Italian families and toddlers running around couldn’t have been easy.’ REVIEW FOR BARD IN THE YARD FROM VIEW FROM THE CHEAPSEATS
‘The Wife’s sad fate is beautifully portrayed by Miztli Rose" REVIEW FOR BLOOD WEDDING by THE SPY IN THE STALLS
"Rose scores massive laughs, and even finds a certain deadpan truth, as two young girls who look up to Jimmy as a highly improbable role model, and as Crazy Ruth, an eccentric motor-mouthed Australian barkeep with bizarre erotic designs on her terrified-looking cleaner.” REVIEW FOR POLICE COPS FROM WHAT'S ON STAGE
